New YZ250F rider Casey Lytle may be a sleeper this
year in the 125cc West Supercross series.
When Casey was healthy he was consistently leading races a couple of
years ago. If you remember Phoenix 2000
Casey won the main and during that year was leading almost every race at one
point. In fact in 1999 Casey finished
second to Casey Johnson in the first round of the West Coast 125cc Supercross
series when Casey Johnson passed him on the last turn. With the new 250cc Casey feels it makes him
very competitive this year even though his isn’t on a fully factory supported
team in 2002.
2001 never went Casey Lytle’s way from week one when
he cased a triple and chipped a bone in his ankle this injury and other
injuries straggled along for most of last year. VRM quizzed Casey about the 2002 competition and Casey
responded: “I try not to look at the competition
as it’ll make for many sleepless nights.
I will say this that you can’t underestimate anyone.”
Only time will tell how the new ride fits Casey.
